Nativity
“Where is he?” questioned Balthazar, “Who is he?” Melchior exclaimed, stepping forward. Finally Caspar stepped forward too, “What is he?”.
This was when the wise women, Veda as Balthazar, Lizzie as Melchior and Me as Caspar. We were performing the Nativity! There were two Mary’s and two Joseph’s, and many other characters, such as the shepherds, the wise women (us) and four Narrators. We performed it to the year 2s and parents on the 3/12, and to Hedley Sutton on the 2/12.
A challenge throughout the performance was, when we were performing to Hedley Sutton, they had a microphone, but only one. So everyone had to keep swapping it. I chose, instead of using it I would just speak louder, and that’s what I did. So did Lizzie and Veda.
Overall I really enjoyed writing the scripts and practicing it with everyone in the class.
What are the character traits you think some characters have?
Hot Magma Rock
This term we’ve been studying natural disasters such as, tsunamis, earthquakes, bushfires and the best of all, volcanoes!
I researched and wrote my own awesome information report on volcanoes.
Whilst creating my diorama, I found it challenging building up the volcano and making sure everything would stick down.
Leave a comment telling me about a natural disaster that you know about.
Perimeter And Area, Are Those The Same?
In Measurement and Geometry we are looking at calculating the perimeter and area of regular shapes.
Perimeter is the length of the border around the shape. Area is the amount of squared space inside the shape.
In the real world using knowledge of this would help you when building a house or buying a house, since the house is made more expensive of how much the house covers.
When have you used this knowledge in your life?
672? Or 881?
We are the near the end of year and have learned many different strategies to help us in all areas of maths.
One particularly interesting method to help you to divide big numbers can be to know the divisibility rules.
Each group in our class investigated one and has made a video to share so that we can all learn from each other.
In my group were Veda and I, it was about 12’s.
Watch my video carefully and answer the final question.
Is that Weathering?
In integrated we are learning about weathering, erosion and deposition. We are also learning about natural disasters.
Let me explain those interesting words. Weathering is the breaking down of the land, some examples are, wind, water etc. Erosion is the moving of the land, it can be moved by also water and wind. Deposition is where the land ends up.
Today 4T walked around the school for examples of this process. Here are some of my photos:
Where have you seen W.E.D?
Read That!
Planning your writing helps you to know what you’re going to do.
A story graph is one way to do this.
I read the story ‘ Teacup ‘ and plotted the events on the story graph. Have a look below:
As you can see in the story graph, I have put a photo where there is sand and fruit. There are also footsteps. Even baby footsteps!
Can you think of an alternate sizzling start for this book?
CBM!
“YAY!” Cheered the class, we had just won CBM, Comment Bonanza Month.
CBM is when each class who takes part has to get more comments than each other. We had to teach others how to write quality comments. These are the classes who took part,
4T, 4HB, 4D, 5B, 5Q & 5S
It was tight between 5B, as they had 610. But luckily we had upped our game when we went
down. So in our close win, we had 625!😄
Everyone was excited when it was presented, since our goal had been completed. To keep the 4T winning streak!😁
Here is a a pic collage to back us up.

What is one thing you have cheered for?
CBCA!
“My favourite book is ‘The Happiness Box’.” Replied Gabby. She was one of the other persons that had their favourite the same as mine, ‘The Happiness Box’.
We’ve been judging the Eve Pownall Shortlist this term. The books in this range were,
Waves
Sorry Day
Bouncing Back
The Happiness Box (my favourite)
And Make Believe.
Sadly I was not here to read ‘Waves’ and ‘Sorry Day’, since I was in New Zealand. Back to the information.😄 The criteria we used to judge these books were, good information, good visuals and of course layout.
The reason why I chose ‘The Happiness Box’ is because,
-
The visuals were beautiful and realistic.
-
The layout was presented in a creative matter, it was like a fiction book.
-
The information had sources at the end and it was detailed. This book was actually about another book that was created in war time.
